Considering the state of the roads I'm surprised I didn't see more hydraulic Cits in Malta.

I saw a CX edging its way past the crowds in Mdina the other day. Fairly clean white bodywork, petrol but just starting to sound diesely! And blowing exhaust.

Waiting for the transfer from the hotel this morning saw a red BX bowling past. Paint looked a bit dull from 50 yards.

The famous old Malta buses are fast disappearing now with modern rear engine MAN's replacing them. However we did manage a few bone jarring trips on some fine old examples. It's the first time we've been for 5 years and a lot of the old buses are gone. I would say in another 5 years they will be very rare. Models included Bedford, Ford, Leyland, AEC and a Dodge!

Some nice old cars there. Loads of Marinas in various states of repair. Hillman Minx, Singer? Vogue, nice Mk1 Capri, few old Moggies, Lots of old Mercs and quite a few old lorries as well, mainly AEC and Albion.

For anyone who doesn't know, the roads are hilarious, with large cracks and potholes everywhere and the driving is something to behold. We were on a bus yesterday, the driver was talking to the ticket inspector standing next to him while sending a text and steering with his left elbow! biggrin.gif
