Quite surprised Comma don't do an equivalent.


Unfortunately we do not do an equivalent to this product, I am afraid you need to purchase direct from Citroen dealers.

Wirdy, I can confirm that if the solenoid is alright the computer can detect that, and operates the approapriate current, so if u can listen them high-pitch buzzing, it means solenoid is ok -it checks for a specified resistance range to assume solenoid is alright-.

It can be difficult though to be sure that both are buzzing correctly on the radio unless you are sure you have once heard a car that was working. (All this is if u have a car with 2 electrovlaves.)

HOWEVER, even if the valve-solenoid electrically works, it can be sticky or leaky.

ROBIN, would you do us the huge favor of putting up a foto of the said little filter?? Thanks!!!

To download it - right click on the link and then click on "save target as..." for internet explorer or "save link as..." for Firefox. Choose a place to save the file and click on "Save". Job done. Done know why it does that.

So...an update on my rattly & hard front suspension.

LHM drain, filter clean, new LHM.
Corner spheres new.
Front centre sphere new.
Lower balljoints new.
Track rod ends new.
LHM drained, hydraflush filled (50 miles ago)
Electrovalves both buzzing happily on the ramps.
Rear lovely - a good 6 inch bounce test.

Still have hard front in my opinion. Speed bumps are teeth jarring!!

Any more ideas? - apart from letting the hydraflush work at the problem?

How long before I should expect to run the hydraflush before I should notice something??

I also did some research Here and might try running some mil-h-5606(h) fluid in the system for a while. In my line of work I can get plenty of this gratis - just for further flushing of course, then fill back up with LHM+ at the end of my fault-tracing exploits.

My other options are to remove and test the front hydractive solenoid valve and/or get the fault codes checked to see if I've got a sensor problem - however that would surely affect the rear as well and that end of the car seems fine.

Now where was that mod that gave a light to show which mode the susp was in?? I can't find it now. Anyone?

That is the trail I would be going down before anything else.

1. You can also measure the voltage on the pin or elsewhere that sends electricity to the front solenoid, if it around 2.8 volts then it's OK as, if it was not, the ECU cuts the electricity. I measured mine with voltmeter in car in real conditions.

2.What if your height is wrong (too high). XM's height corrector linkages get sticky with time, there's a brass ring that gets tight with rust. My car had that at front and height difference -hapenning in random really- was even visible to the eye. I had to be stopping and putting it down and up again.

Hi there

Where are the height correctors? How do I get to them?

They are underneath the car, if u look at the antirol bar in front for example, you'll see linkage that leads you to the black pint-sized cylider that is the height corrector.

But to check if our height is ok u don't need to see the height corrector, just measure the height a few times at moments u think your car is hard. There are specified height ranges for the front and rear for the XM, and specified points of measuring. I think the front has to be around 14cms from grounds, measuring from the front subframe panel at the car's side, behind the front wheel -I have the relevant document but nt with me now-. Anybody else?

Another clue that made me suspicious re. the height was that the height difference (in front) between the medium-high and the highest positions was much smaller than the difference between the driving and medium-high positions. Car would need only about 2cms more to reach the highest, ie it was already sitting too high.

I have a feeling that there are detailed specs about correct heights somewhere in this site but I haven't been able to find it. Maybe I was dreaming. Thanks for the info on the height correctors, George. I'll check as soon as the road outside is not under 6" of water.

Could be that if its set to high its hitting the bump stops - that would make it ride hard! You can approximate the position by looking at the suspension arms/drive shafts, they should be about level i.e. parallel with the road.

Do you now have the figures and method for checking the ride height? If not I'll supply them.

You really need either a pit or a lift to do the job safely.
