during a change of the accumulator sphere i followed the instructions and de-pressurized the system in the usual way. i was surprised to NOT hear any hissing - the suspension was already in the low position. The sphere unscrewed with no pressure holding it.

so whats leaking?

this has only happened since doing an LHM change and another side effect is when starting the car it drops suddenly on the suspension - presumably when the valve opens up. there is no physical leak externally so i assume its the regulator maybe.

is the advise to just leave it, or is something else likely to happen next?

If it drives OK I would leave it alone. I have changed the regulator, distribution valve, accumulator sphere and the pump on mine and it still loses pressure very quickly when you stop and takes a long time to come up when cold, when warm comes up immediatly. Something is leaking pressure, I suspect that it may be the steering rack, but having changed the one on my last car I would rather not go down that road again.
