Would it be possible for members to post the name, address and contact details of people who undertake XM servicing and repairs.
I am based in Perthshire and would love to find someone to service and maintain my beloved XM

Sorry, can't help with Perthshire but can offer Wolsey House Motors, Wolsey House, Millway Lane, Wortham, Diss, Norfolk. IP22 1SL
01379 644133
I bought my XM through them and have heard good things elswhere about them. I have no hesitation in suggesting their name be offered in a list.
Will be going back in a few months to have all the belts changed on my 2.5.
They put up a new workshop and installed modern kit last year.
Robin.

I've been to see a bloke in Walsall today about getting the cambelt done on my XM. He's crazy about 2cv's and I remember going to him years ago for some spheres for the BX. I had actually forgotten all about him
He's failed the 1st test cos he was supposed to ring me back

but to be fair to him I spoke to his mechanic because he's off sick today.
His website is
http://citroenspecialists.net I'll report back and let everyone know how I get on.
Could be handy for Midlands based XMers.

Blackburn is most definitely in Lancashire and these guys are in Hapton near Burnley (also in Lancashire). I am going to investigate next time I go to see my mum (also in Lancashire).

Bristol 2CV's on Hampton Road Bristol have worked on mine since 2000ish. At leat one of the senior people there runs an XM, and they do still see a few XM's I believe. They have always been very straight with me, as far as I am aware. There are a couple of other places in Bristol but I have had no reason to try them yet.
They also have a body shop place next door that has been used by me far too often (and only once was it my fault, all the rest happened while parked, one of the cons about an XM in the city).

Hi,
Can't really help you with Perthshire I'm afraid. I'm in Kelso in the Scottish Borders and have a couple of local contacts here I can rely on to do various things well - but when it comes to in-depth knowledge there's no-one. Scotroen in Edinburgh have a reasonable reputation although they may be a little expensive.
This may or may not be of use - but if you're ever taking the car across the short channel crossings - Marsh Citroen in Romney Marsh are excellent. I've used them several times now - adding an extra day on the journey to get a variety of bigger jobs done en route:
Unit 15a Mountfield Road
New Romney
Kent
TN28 8LH
Tel: 01797-361234 Dave Alstin or Paula
With the knowledge you have available to you on this forum - you're probably pretty well placed to diagnose most problems yourself. If you can find a good local indy and tell him what needs done (and supply him with the parts if necessary) that can be a good solution if he's a competent mechanic. I've a really good one here who's done the following for me:
Cylinder Head on a 2.1TD - around £325
Timing, aux and balance shaft belts on a 2.5TD - £289
Martin at Pleiades is unbeatable for quality of replacement suspension parts - including re-pressurised spheres - Tel: 01487 831239
If you're around this way, or down in Edinburgh - give me a shout - since we both have similar cars it might be interesting. I've now done 77k miles in mine - but bought it Jan 06 with 53k - likely to keep racking up the miles on mine too. Yours must be the lowest mileage 2.5TD Exclusive in the country!
Best wishes
Roy

Hi again,
I forgot about:
Ramsay
Bassaguard Garage
68B Larg Road
St Andrews
Fife
KY16 8NJ
Not sure how much of an XM specialist he is - but I know he's got experience of them and I believe he's a good indy.

I have met the chap in Burnley, I went to look at a CX Estate he had. He is a Citroen nut also, very nice, seems genuine. Thought I was mad travelling all that we to see a car! I,m very fussy about my motors.
