L'évolution...

The Citroën XM have been wide 11 years in production. On left 5 June 2000 very last XM, V6 Exclusive Automatique in the colour snatch Fulminator the production line in Rennes-la-Janais, year still no after the Citroën XM club the Netherlands z n’left behind foot tracks there.

The emphasis will lie at these "Evolution XM" on the model years 1992 until the end of production. By way of illustration: a model year modification enters at PSA by the summer of the previous year. Or still more clearly than: model year 1994 starts production-technical around May 1993.

model year 1992 ORG. no. 5271®

Modification of the brake disks and crams as from 03/91. the oppervlak of both disks and to cram is increased. For: brake claws and brake disks f 283 mm. As from ORG. no. 5583 introduction of the new chair lining velours Lille (comfort) and velours Marina (ambiance).

model year 1993 ORG. no. 5623®

Introduction of the tweespakig wheel wheel, renewed verlichtingschakelaar incorporated in the indicator switch and a modification (inversion) of the connections of the two-delicate (male becomes vrouwtje) as from organisation number 5594.

model year 1994 ORG. no. 6031®

XM V6 as from model year 94 it is operated by a new engine which in the volksmond the name V6 will carry Couple. This new engine (engine code ZPJ) gets modified contents of 2975 cm³ to 2963 cm³. This reduction is obtained by shortens of the battle to 72.3 mm (were 73 mm) and a broadening of the dia meter of the combustion chamber of 92 mm to 93 mm.

Also modify at the new engine the injection computer, engine wire cord and injectoren. Finally there a development of the institution of the nokkenas takes place.

All diesel engines are provide with a purification system with a recirculation with the exhaust gases (EGR). The 141 pk turbo CT engine (RGY) is replaced as from ORG. no. 6263 by the 150 pk RGX variant and gets hollow pistons, another bolt and another injection computer to bring about a quieter but something more powerful character.

Beside the V6 models now 4-cilinder models also all get encoded startbeveiliging.

The mechanical acceleration barge BE3 gets a modified transferring of 2e acceleration (23x43). The turbo CT gets the arrangement concerning 4HP18 the automatic acceleration barge. With regard to the wheel framework V6 and the V6.24 other feather balls get by (including hydractive-bol) and other models also all a new articulation of the first triangel and an elastic framework of the achterbruglichaam (the sending along with rear axle). model year 1995: Restyle Xm ORG. no. 6383®

model year 95 is in the first place characterised by the facelift which undergoes Xm both to the outside and to the binnenkant. Of outside modify for - and achterbumper, grille, square wipers for and behind, zijclignoteurs, mirrors (oval and spouted), achterspoiler and wheel capsules/rims.

To the binnenkant we see especially the new dashboard and instrument panel, the wheel column cover and the wheel wheel with airbag and eventually the chair - and interieurbekleding.

Beside airbag pyrotechnical gordelspanners are provided standard on all models, like also a hoogfrequente remote control (yes or no with super far locking). The rechterbuitenspiegel can be ordered with indexeerbaar a memory for 3 scores. The tiptoets square service with anti-klemvoorziening are equipped.

Two new engines do their entrance, the 135 PK strong 2.0i-16V (1998 cc) also indicated as RFV or XU10J4R and the 130 PK generating 2.5 turbodiesel (2446 cc) also THY or DK5ATE called. Freedom-half we indicate these engines further such as RFV and THY.

strengthening beams and absorbing block-systems in the portieren for protection at lateral collisions are assembled standard on all models.

New coachwork colours: Bleu Stratos, Vert Poseidon, rouge Cerise and Brun Quad.

To expire colouring: Rouge Opéra, Vert, snatch triton one, snatch flint and rouge Mandarin.

THE SX version are equipped with velours Mégalithe, the VSX with velours Louvre and the Exclusives preserved the old combinations.

model year 1996 ORG. no. 6750®

After the very serious modifications of model year 1995 succeed annually until the end of production quality improvements each other in high tempo. These improvements have been particularly aimed at increase of comfort, the security and the environment.

6.2 Hd-pomp are as from now provided on all XM models except V6.

Modifications in the electric circuit can be reflected as follows: the assembly of 3e the remlicht, expires of the switch for the fuel supply at the diesel models, equipment zij-airbag and wire cords dashboard and portieren concerning expired option super far locking. model year 1999 ORG. no. 7847®

All XM’s which has been produced as from organisation number 8211 is API SJ/cf SAE provide 5W-30 with engine oil. This oil cannot be used in previous models.

XM the turbo CT RGX become to provide with a new oil pump. At XM 2.1TD P8C middle the exhaust silencing device disappears. There again a modification takes place concerning the wielbouten for lichtmetalen rims. Afschuining are applied in the affirmative breaches at the lichtmetalen rims and at the steel rim of the reservewiel the set-up rings are on behalf of the special wielbouten for lichtmetalen rims no longer necessary.

I've never heard a gearbox called an acceleration barge before ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

However I think we all get the general idea tongue.gif

Actually, an autobox is a bit of an "acceleration barge" - certainly blunts the effect of the
engine's performance getting in the way of movement!! biggrin.gif
