Hi all.
Just got back from my latest continental jaunt. You will be pleased to hear that Gazole is 72p per litre off the Autoroutes,5 litres of Semi Synthetic 10-40W £6 at your friendly supermarket. My auxilliary belt problems continue. The new Citroen belt fitted last time now has the inside 2mm neatly removed, but obligingly has left the lower section intact where it touches the pulleys.Having looked at it every stop I am convinced that it is the air conditioning pulley that is somehow out of alignment,as the belt seems to be too far over to the right(causing the flange to cut into the edge)as it comes back towards the bulkhead.I am going to leave it for a while unless the belt deteriorates even more. Fuel consumption was a dissappointinting 42.6mpg,but I did get stuck in Caen for 30 minutes and then circumnavigated the Periphique for 1 1/2 laps looking for a hotel. I spent 2 days around Caen going to the various museums etc. There is a letter at the excellent Pegasus Bridge museum from a chap called Stan,he is obviously very scared in a ditch shortly after D-day and has written to his mother saying how much she and his father mean to him and he did not realise until then how much,he promises to be a better son when he gets home,he also writes that he hopes his brother is OK.Stan is killed a few days after and his brother is also killed a few weeks later....a very sobering letter! Lest we forget. Regards Rob -------------------- 1958 BMW Isetta 300 RHD with SMITHS SELECTROSHIFT
