Sitting in the car yesterday waiting for my wife to finish her shopping in Tesco,I thought that I would exercise the rear electric windows which performed faultlessly, and then the sun roof.
All seemed well as it opened correctly and stopped at the maximum opening, but when I tried to close it -- nothing, not a sausage, no clicks no nothing and rain was likely. So there I was in the car some 15 miles from home with out side temperature reading some 5 degrees C and black clouds over head with a dirty big hole in the car roof!. We managed to get home ok despite some drizzly rain and I started to investigate the problem. Consulted the hand book page on fuses and found fuse no 25 yellow 20 amps, pulled it out and all ok. I then investigated the over head roof panel and removed the lamp lense and discovered 4 torx scews holding the console to the roof. After much searching I eventually found a correct size bit and driver and proceeded to undo the screws. Th panel came away and in the void I could see no immediate problems nor any where to put the emergency winding handle in ( my car does not have one any way) but I thought if there was a spindle exposed somewhere on the sun roof motor it might be possible to hand crank the roof to the closed postion!. I fiddled with all the connections to the multi plug to switch connections and then turned the ignition key again to accessory position and tried the closing switch again, and wonder of wonders, the roof startrd to close and is now fully shut. So this tale turned out ok in the end and may help other people with the same symptons. |

You will probably find that you have a dodgy switch, mine used to do the same only sometimes it would work and sometimes not, so I was afraid to open it. I got a complete panel and swapped it, no problems since.

Has your car had any money spent (or oil change, etc) recently?
Remember it's French and needs pampering, so it may just let you know it needs some affection from time to time. -------------------- '99 'V' XM 2.0 CT VSX Auto Estate RP 8360 Green.
