Xm Mk2 Lhm Change And A Quiestion

Hi, to put this story short, this is what is bugging me.

Recently had the LHM changed during a acc sphere replacement. The LHM wats really dirty and brownish to say the least.
Afterwards i was faced with a bit of a lack in power steering coupled with a wooshing sound when truning the wheel and a very slow rising of the body when going from the lowest position (for example from middle to top eight reasonably fast).
When doing so i got a stop light for some 15-25 sec and then it slowly starts.
Given the symptoms air getting into the system trough the pump intake hose was suggested. And sure enough the hose was leaky and was replaced together with a pump recondition. Now all is well: superb ride (corner spheres regassed) , allmost no wooshing and good assistance.
However the slow rising problem is unchanged. If i rev it a bit i get instant movement (slow though). This would't bother me so much if it was like that prior to the LHM change, but it wasnt.
Since it's got antisink thats working fine it is realy not a serious problemm but still i wonder.
help would be welcome.

p.s. the brakes were not bled, but plan to do it this week

Hi nino,

When you say its slow to rise is this just when you lower the suspension with the lever or does it happen every morning?
Does the back take the same time to rise as the front or vice versa?

I can't comment on the comparison between pre-lhm change and now but the S2 XM's mostly rise slowly. This is because the old 7 piston pump was updated to a 6+2 piston pump. The 6 pistons feed the steering. That leaves only 2 pistons to pump up the suspension. That's why it takes so long to rise. All 7 pistons used to feed the suspension before the change.

I suppose it could be a blockage from some disloged dirt in the system. The front or back question above will help to narow down where the blockage could be depending on your answer.

Could I ask you to put the model and year of your car in your signature? Depending on the model and year the hydraulic system is organised differently and will affect the diagnosis. Just click on 'My Controls' at the top right of the screen and then @Edit my signature' at the bottom left of the next screen. Just put the info in the white box in the middle of the screen.
