Folks,

After three years of fairly trouble-free use of the 2.5, it's having what the aircraft industry calls a "D-check" - up on blocks, partially-dismantled, etc, etc. - So thanks for putting up with a stream of postings!

I note that there is a fair amount of slack in the brass rear height corrector "pivot nut". Ironically, cleaning out some of the rust and crud increased the slack!

Is this tolerance critical in terms of ride height? I can't work out the geometry of the thing. It now slops about a fair bit, enough to squeeze out a lot of grease from each side

Cheers

Replacement of the brass bush (and its nut) improves the suspesion response considerably, that's why I always keep some in stock. Rear suspension is highly dependant on the linkage more than the height controller itself.

Hi Rob,

Remember to clean out those seat pockets in front of you and get rid of the old sick bags and In Flight magazines, but leave the safety card otherwise we won't know what to do when some screaming idiot in the front seat shouts "Brace, Brace".

On a more serious note I have had your exact symptoms before with both my 2.5's. I also came to the same conclusion on the accuracy of the height control. However, thats where it stopped. I looked at the possibility of a repair, ie a new piece of brass, but the whole griding out and re-brazing put me off so I didn't bother doing anything. The height control doesn't appear to suffer so the resultant error must not get amplified as it travels through al the levers etc. In an ideal world I'd have repaired it back to factory tolerances but since there's no ill effect I left well alone. No point in inviting trouble after all.

Cheers

Thanks, both!

So, it's a "grind and braze" job? Hence why I can't find any threads.

With the current workload, plus the need to get the machine in service, I may just pass for now and see how it goes.

Cheers
