Hi all,

I need to change my brake valve at some point of time as it must be leaking alot internally -rear of car seats down 30min max after stopping-. There's one on ebay at the moment so I might grab it if refurbishment can be done.

thanks
George

Is your XM as soft as it should be ??

...Well, again: is it ???

Mine is not as good...but quite near!

There are 3 o-rings sold separately. Two of them are supposed to stop the leak of LHM from rear suspension, third one is for the cover. There are original MAN page of the procedures. Also you can buy the rubber "sucker" which is in front of the brake valve.

Note if you have harsh and rough braking, it's useless to change these o-rings because the leak is comming from the worn valve pistons.

No, breaking is not harsh or rough, it's just that I the rear axle brakes seems to come in with a small lag compared to the front (half second), and the rear falls down quickly after stopping.
Thanks for your help, I'll refurbish a used brake valve I have and put it on...We'll see.
cheers
George

PS I have had all 4 brakes bled -but not the ABS unit-.

Before you dismantle anything it may be worth while checking the return pipes to the reservoir to make sure it is the brake valve that is leaking. On my car a rapid settling of the back end was caused by an internal leak in a suspension unit.
