Topic says it all,
After two weeks of `it'll be done tomorrow'' by Andy's Autos in Forfar, I've had to give up. The did the MOT agreed to do the necessary work, but have regretably proved themselves to be a waste of space. Two failed rear lights (number plate & high brighrness for light, both on the tailgate) are all that stands between my car and its MOT. But as I can't drive, rather than drag this out any further I've decided to offer tha car `as is'. Pickup from me. So, you keen XM buyers. FOR SALE. Series 2 V6 XM Estate. Dark blue with all available extras. Auto; good leather, good body. Non date specific plate. Low milage engine. Everything good except for aircon, cruise control and tail lights as above. Slow to lift at the back but does lift (probably no more than the result of having stood for three months). Odd running things need looking at such as the heated seats (elements good) and one manually switched engine fan (other one switches automatically) but to repeat, the only thing it failed its MOT on were the two lights. Price without MOT..................£750 ONO. Come on guys, does anyone seriously think it's too expensive at that? Jim. |

[SIZE=7]Hello Mark,
Things may have changed re the MOT. I spoke to the garage, and they actually `phoned me back. For those who don't know Andy's Auto's of Forfar, this is indeed a rare occurance; something akin to white smoke from the Vatican chimney. As far as I can gather, having spoken to their long suffering receptionist the MOT may have been done. I'll know more tomorrow................. The air conditioning just worked (cool rather than cold) some two years ago when I bought the car off Ebay, but then the relay under the bonnet failed. I replaced this, the aircon pump clutch operated ok but no cold air. Shortly afterwards the pump clutch stopped operating. I've been told this is a safety thing, and that the pump will not operate if the gas in the system is low. I cannot say whether this is true or not; I'm no expert on airconditioning systems. So, you pays your money and makes your choice.............. I'll post again tomorrow when I know if the MOT has been done. If it has, I may have to increase the sale price to cover the garage costs, but it should not be by much. This is turning into a saga; all I want to do is sell the damn car. Truth to tell I don't really want to, but medical circumstances mean I cannot drive, and I really do not want a yard ornament. I live in Kirriemuir, some 20 miles north of Dundee. If I get the MOT, taxing the car from Feb 1st would mean the new owner could take the train to Dundee and drive the car back. Best Regards, Jim. |
