I picked up CitroenXM's V6 the other day, and when i indicate or hit the brake pedal it tells me that there is a defective R stop lamp, i haven't had a chance to check the bulbs yet as the car is in at the garage after my incident on the M6, but is there a reason why its saying it when i indicate? Or is it just the bulb?

Hi David
Yes, its probably just a bad earth connection. The 'lamp gone' sensor measures the current flowing through circuit, if you have a bad connection it will of course reduce the current, if the stop lamp is connected to the same earth, when you brake the poor connection has also to carry the extra current from the stop bulb thus making the voltage on the earthy end rise, resulting in even less current through the stop circuit, but I dont know where the earth connection is, you will have to ask Noz. This is a common fault and is useuall fixed by removing the rear lamp cluster removing the bulbs, and cleaning the corosion in the bulb holders....
