If you are refering to what I think you are, the one on the left is a dot matrix display that enlarges on what your warning lights tell you and also warn of any doors left open etc. Very rarely do all the pixels illuminate and they get worse with age, but if you have no illumination at all then I expect that the bulbs have gone.

The right hand side one is the clock and outside temperature gauge and probably the same has happened. The lamps on the clock are of the push and twist type but the dot matrix display has wire ended type.

Hi faeonara,

Someone has taken the bulbs (lamps) out of the displays so you can't see the ABS warning which is repeated in text on the left hand display. Probably an attempt to get it past the MOT man. You can't miss the display when the ABS is faulty. In addition, whilst the ABS fault is up on the display, all other messages are suppressed eg the radio information.

You'll find a How To... file in the Self Help section which will show you how to dismantle the dash to get at the dot matrix display(s).

cheers
