Hello Chris,

I've been an enthusiastic user of the the CitroenZ.com website for some years (BX owner for 5 years). Having finally bought an XM Estate on Ebay (ok, not the most reliable source for any car, but I'd been dithering for long enough), Anders recomended a cd made by Norrie as a basic requirement if I'm going to try to maintain the thing myself. Norrie recommended your site................. I'm going to need all the help I can get if I'm going to make the best of my car; the interior is as close to mint as you can get; the bodywork is good but it has a few mechanical/electrical things that need work. My contribution to what seems a wonderful `help each other as need' site is that I've a small workshop in Kirriemuir, Scotland. Equiped with a medium size clockmakers lathe and soon to be installed full size Jones and Shipman precision 1300 grinder I'll help in any way I can.

My car was described by the seller as a V6 XM Exclusive Estate. He told me that from his research, there were only ever 28 of this model registered in the UK. Is there any way of verifying this? I'm just curious; like to know it's history. It's a genuinly beautiful car, I don't really care if they made 28 or 2800. It's automatic transmission, dark blue, black leather interior, electric adjustable fronts seats, heated seats front and back, and air conditioning. It's great!!!!!!!! But it's a Citroen, which means that some of the above don't work. It's the overal condition of the thing that makes it worthwhile though..........

Good luck with the site,

Jim (aka combwork)

You want to be a bit careful about those figures. Wossname at the XM Centre has put some 'facts' of, ahem, dubious provenance, on that site...

Like the bit where he claims the XM was part of the Saab/Lancia/Fiat/Alfa joint platform project. Dunno what he was on when he wrote that, but it must be good stuff!
And there is some doubt about many of the performance figures listed there too.

I have to say that my personal opinion is that he may have 'spun' the figures a bit to make the purchase of an XM a slightly more attractive prospect.

Hi All

The XM centre web address mentioned above no longer works. Will post a working one if I can find it.

Hi Jim,

Is yours a Series 1 or a Series 2 car? (i.e what year?)

Regards, Derek
