AAAAAAHHHHH!,had to get that out, anyway, just fitted 5 or 6 new bayonet bulbs behind the speedo and to illuminate right hand side of dash too,it was totally dull. Now the problem was i started to just take of the instrument sun cover thingy above the dash, took the 2 screws out,mm,it didn't seem to want to come out,i could see the problem was it was tucked under the panel with the 'bonnet open' etc display on it.I then decided to try to take whole of the dash off, well enough to maybe bring it forward enough so the shade covering the speedo/clocks etc would come off, this didn't work,so i thought to hell with it,i just levered in the gap with a screwdriver and hey presto it popped out!:-)Anyway,with the slight to-ing and fro-ing with the dash the sodding clock/temp gauge doesn't work now!Is it a delicate little thing that gives up the ghost if you go anywhere near it?Or is there a fuse maybe for this?I disconnected battery before doing all my dash stuff so i took all the care i could, hope someone can help!

Hi

What sort of not working? Totally dead or all the segments light up. For the first the multi way plug on the back has possibly worked a little loose. The latter is normal after a battery disconnection and just needs one of the clock buttons held in to reset the display, then push each of the buttons in turn until the clock time is reset.

Regards

The display doesn't show anything,to be honest i didn't even move the dash with this clock on it much at all as i had given up the taking the dash of idea about three quarters of the way through the job,i just levered off the part i wanted with the screwdriver,i'll check the fuses today.i

It could well be that the bulb/s in the clock have gone as well, as they are on all the time so will only have the same life as the panel lamps, the vibration of removing the instrument binnacle could have caused them to fail. Sorry, sounds like dash out again!

The clock i have is on my 2.1td,its a digital display clock not one with a dial and hands, therefore i don't think it will have bulbs behind it.I took the instrument clocks shroud/sun cover off yesterday again and checked the wiring plug was right into the back of the clock/temp display,it was ok,clock is still completely dead?I've checked all the fuses, they are ok!Its just really annoying me going into dash to do the original job, come out of the job now theres something else wrong :-/

Oh yes! it does have bulbs behind it, or at least one anyway, and there are two in the dot matrix display.

Thanks again Pete,i thought L.E.D type displays had some other way of lighting, well, you learn something every day, thanks!.Is it possible to sneak my fingers in and replace the bulb if i was feeling in a particularly dexterious(is that the word?) mood without taking the whole dash off, just the visor part over the dials.

LCD displays are backlit, you'r thinking of LED. Its not all that long since I did one but at my age you soon forget things, I cant remember exactly where the bulb is, I think its one of the twist fit type that are used in the instrument panel but I rather fancy you will have to take the front off again.
