Window Winders

Have heard that there is a 'kit' available to fix the very slow work speed of the XM's electric window winders. So far unable to locate. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Steve

The only window winder kit I am aware of was to replace the steel drive wires.
A member on here used to make them and sell on ebay.
Not sure if currently available.

Slow movement of the window glass suggests excessive friction.
On the XM the glass has a hole in the centre bottom for the motor drive spigot.
The glass is kept upright using a single plastic guide block running in a vertical channel.
Because the guide is to one side friction will slow the upward glass movement
These channels and blocks may need lubrication with a bit of silicone grease.
The channels are at the rear edge of the front door glass and the front edge of the rear door glass.

Some spray silicone lubricant in the window channels often works wonders.
