When we got the XM a few months ago I knew there was a slight leakage of fluid from the LHS front strut area. Made the assumption (always a bad idea) that the strut itself was compromised. And unlike a D cylinder, not an easy thing to reseal. So got a replacement unit from Europe - at the same time got a set of the overflow tubes.
When I finally got around to actually taking a closer look I found out that the overflow tube had actually broken in half. As the break occurred right behind the metal support tab - not visible until I actually pulled on it Steve |

They often supply these clips but I have had no success in fitting them without the correct tool so I use a couple of cable ties.

Cable ties are not the best solution but they will work if you adjust them carefully and do them up very tight but your solution sounds better.

The tool is relatively cheap @ £20 and quite a few hose connectors on the XM are of this type especially hydraulic ones.
They are also used for removing the clips without damaging them so that they can be re-used. www.lasertools.co.uk (hose clip pliers) HTH -------------------- XM 2.5TD Exclusive "N" Reg Emerald green RP 6679 (Resting)
