Ok, I officially give in. No matter what I do I can't stop my regulator leaking fluid where the plastic cup with the return hose fitting meets the side of the regulator. Curiously, the regulator makes an unusually loud click when turning off, more so than any other regulator I've ever heard. So much so that it reverberates through the car when it does. I wonder if this is causing a pressure pulse greater than which the plastic cap can hold back and may explain why I can't get it to seal?

The second, and arguably more significant, pain is in my left ear given the mess the leaking fluid is making on the monoblock drive..........

In tha absence of any bright ideas, does anyone have a spare regulator (not including sphere) they would be willing to sell?

cheers

*DEEEP BREATH IN AND SIGH* .....

Um, I posibly might be able to find you one Noz, it wont be perfect, but it might not leak, but it would be another one for you.

Ill do my best to have a look this week.. Oh, is this a Sinker regulator with the PAS pipe return outlet, or a 6+2 Anti sinker regulator... They are different.

Cheers Paul,

My left ear and I would be much obliged.

I assume the distinguishing feature is the two outlets from the pump? I which case it is a 6+2 pump on the 2.5TD. The car also has Anti-Sink so I trust that also identifies the regulator accurately.

Please PM me with costs and I'll drop you a line with my address, assuming you find one of course.

Cheers

Hi Noz,

Well yes that does help a lot more, as its then the same unit as the Xantias from 1994 to 1997..

I have had one in my hand last week, and was currently Leak Free when it was last in use which wasnt that long ago at all..

Ill get the pipes off it and the sphere and get it box'd up..

Cheers
Paul

Hi Noz,

In my experience of tuning regulators the puny O ring seal under the side cap has very little 'nip' especially a used one. Not having a new seal to hand when I did my 2.1TD regulator earlier this year I resorted to packing out the old O ring slightly with a similar diameter ring of very thin PTFE sheet.
I have since acquired some Viton O rings of the two appropriate sizes required by the regulator. If you want a couple of these rings then let me know and I will drop them in the post.

Hi Ken,

Thanks very much for your kind offer. That may indeed be the solution. However, the violent nature of the unloading 'click' leads me to believe that the problem might lie with the regulator itself. Paul has kindly agreed to send me another regulator. Once changed I will review the leak situation and, if still an issue, may get back to you on the seals.

cheers
