Having had a bust cambelt and 16 very bent valves as a result, and not making much progress with putting it all back together again, I wondered if anyone was breaking a car with a good engine and would be interested in selling it ? My car is an M-reg phase 2 automatic estate.

Hopefully you may be in luck with this one which was on E-BAY back in Feb but then ended up in breakers yard, BRIDGES @ Pease Pottage    Please note the /\ pictures/spot courtesy of 'endorfin' (Taken from the other forum) ! I hope it maybe of help and the one /\ , didn't go to meet it maker for the same problem you have with yours !  XMX . |

That one is a manual and mine is an auto - are there any complications swopping the engines between transmission types ? Richard |

Why swap a whole engine.. just swap heads!! there fore youll need just a head gasket or at worse a head set. if you swap the whole engine you will need to swap flywheels over for the torque converter plate.. but other wise not a lot else.. the kick down throttle cable if fitted should go onto the manual throttle spindle as its a standard part.

Plugging this in would be easier, quicker and cheaper than dealing with that expensive sounding yard - and it's not hard changing over flywheels.

I collected the engine from Bridges on Saturday - the leather seats are still with the car and seem in good condition if anyone wants them.

Even if you personally dont want the seats it may be worth you rescuing them your self.. id always take leather seats but i think your too far away for a day trip..

I think this set of seats has been listed before in other XM posts by endorfin.
Previously the yard wanted close on £200 and would not move on price. John -------------------- An interest in 2.5TD's.
