I am ready to order the base coat for the XM but i cant find the paint code. i have checked the engine bay for it behind the passengers light and strut top. is there anywhere else they may have hidden it?
was there many types of green when mine rolled off the production line?

According to the large publicity brochures there were no greens used for the early UK XM production.
That does not mean that other countries had the same colours.
I have checked UK and Dutch XM publicity for Feb 1992.
These brochures have the earliest reference to Green XM's that I can find.
Dutch colours are far more restricted than UK ones but both list 2 Greens.
Emerald (Vert Vega) and Triton (Vert Triton).
I have now had a look through the text of the UK launch brochure pack.
This lists a set of colours that I do not recognise from the commonly available publicity brochures.
The green listed here is Amandier Green.
It states that all paint finishes are clear coated on top of the second colour coat.
I will put up this full colour list in case anyone is interested.

Memphis Blue
Olympic Blue
Castor Brown
Axinite Grey
Dolmen Grey
Meteor Grey
Pearl Grey
Clearcoat Black
Delange Red
Manderin Red
Amandier Green
Paint code is normally stencilled on the chassis behind the passenger headlight on RHD cars of that age.
It is also sometime written in the maintenance handbook, bottom line of main page.
It is possible to use the cars VIN number to look up the original spec on the Citroen website. This provides a very full list as well as original paint colour.
Someone on here will do this check and post the results if you cannot.
