I have a lot of wind noise from the sunroof, wheich I don't remember bering present on any of my previous XMs. It does look like the panel is not sitting quiet right, when it clicks to a stop the back of it still looks to be low and not as flush as I would expect with teh rest of the roof. Is there a way of adjusting this?

Your sunroof works! I would think its probably not closing properly because the cable is getting tight. If you take the lamp assembly down you can see the cable drive, give it some oil and work it backwards and forwards, if you do it a number of times it should loosen up.

My best advice to anyone with a working sunroof is use it or loose it!!!
The parking of the sunroof at either ends is by microswitches hitting a wheel with various cut outs on it to trigger parking etc. I don't know if these can be adjusted easily. I had the same problem on my first Xm. I just hit the button again a slight touch to raise the back of the glass so it was flush with the roof, or the noise subsided. -------------------- 1980 CX Athena (W)

That would be consisteant with the other sunroof sytems I have had to deal with on other cars.
I don't think its too stiff as it stop in the same closed posistion from open or tilted, and is not slow either. On other cars I have found that the sunroof panel is normally attached to runners each side and that this is where the adjustment is done (or on the Rovers 800's and XJ40s this is the case, the merc I had were similar), once you knew were the screws were it was very simple to adjust. Unfortunatly it would seem my panel is low, as if you try to raise the back up slightly the front then drops, so no real noise reduction This post has been edited by Zaphod on October 18, 2011 02:47 pm -------------------- Of all the things I have lost I think I miss my mind the most

i had a similar issue with my non-working sunroof resolved this weekend. The back part had dropped , and the wind noise was very bad. i tried to manually crank it closed , but the cables appear to be done , so nothing happening there.
While at the mechanics, i asked him to take a quick look. his first instinct was to try to force it up by hand, when it popped up out of its runner. I thought we were in trouble , but he was able to adjust mounting screws on either side, from inside the car, and from here he could set the level to a closed setting. note he did not remove the roof lining or anything to do this , so they must be relatively accessible hope it helps -------------------- 97 xantia 1.9 TD : killed @ 430K by a PUG

There was a thread about this a few years ago but I think it might have got lost when this site went down... I had the same problem and seem to remember being told to get the sunroof into the right position, unscrew the motor then screw it back in.
I am now scratching my head to work out why this would work... could cogs somehow reengage? In the end I didn't do it because I got good at bipping the switch so the roof settled in the right position. Jamie -------------------- Jamieb
