Hello again everyone.
I have been meaning to look up the site again for ages and when I did I was glad to recognise many old names!
I'm still living in France but haven't succumbed to another XM................... yet. I hardly see any over here, they are quite scarce now. I presume a lot more went with the scrappage deal that has been going over here again.
You'll be sorry to hear I've stuck with my Mercedes! The E300 expired early on in the year due to a leaking steering rack and other maladies, it just wasn't worth repairing. I have now upgraded to a W reg E320 with everything on-145K and a full service history................ £1500! I drive it like an old lady and got 50mpg on a recent trip back to the UK. It isn't as good as it looks in the pics, there is a lot of rust etc. The chap I bought it off sold it because he wasn't going to spend another penny on it............. the file he had ran into £10,000's of pounds over 6 years. I've done 9K in it since March with only one problem and it passed its MOT.
Looking forward to popping back now I have found Club-XM again
Hope to speak with you all again soon
Best regards Rob

Hi Rob

Pleased to hear from you.
Your former 2.5 estate is back on the road again.
Still a few things to do.
The belts are well overdue for changing.
A nasty LHM leak from the power steering that has just started.

Best regards

John

Hi Bob

Yes, nice to hear from you again. I rather fancied an 'E' class myself they are about the only estate that is near the size of the XM. but a neighbor of ours has one and its cost him a fortune and had started falling to pieces. Some people never learn though - he has just bought a new one. ohmy.gif

They certainly sound more expesive to repair than the XMs - if you do it yourself. I have succombed to a 406 Hdi estate which I use mainly because of its economy, dreadful ride though, but I still use the XM, been out in it today, its full of logs at the moment. The red one is still in full time use by my son.

There are very few XM's left over here now especially 2.1 manual estates, I have only seen one sensibly priced one in the last nearly three years and I bought it, that's the one I am running now.

Peter
