Hi,

Topic description says it all; does anyone know where the reversing light switch is on a V6 Auto? The Haynes book gives the location on a manual transmission as `a plunger type switch mounted below the air cleaner' but Haynes specifically excludes the V6 from their manual, and there's nothing about the switch location on an autobox anyway. I've tested the bulbs, both are ok but with the engine running and the car in reverse there's no voltage at the sockets.

Oh well,

Jim.

Hi combwork

Have had a look in Russek which covers V6's. It seems to suggest that when removing the engine the connectors to disconnect the reversing light switch are found under the battery box on both manuals and auto's. Have had a quick look in the workshop manual and it seems to suggest that auto boxes have a multi function switch that includes a reversing switch output. It mentions checking fuse F19 for supply to reversing lamps otherwise check fuse F12. It mentions that this same switch also sends the signal to DIP the passenger side rear view mirror so checking whether this works might help to determine where the fault is.

Thanks XMExc,

I'll check that tomorrow. Dipping passenger side wing mirror works ok, so I'll check under the battery. Do you run an XM Exclusive? Does everything work? (cough cough). I bought an Exclusive Estate off Ebay over a year ago. Basically sound car, but iffy electrics. I'd not swop it though....................

Regards,

Jim.

Hi Jim

My V6 came via ebay. I had intended to swap all the exclusive bits with one of my 2.5 VSX's and resell it. It turned out too good a drive to do that to. ABS and other intemmittant electrical display faults are the only downside and I will eventually sort them.

Regards
