Wow nice tidy car for the miles, which if shes been looked after should be nothing for her!!

You got the "Right" car there too. Being a K 1992/3, she should be a S1.5 and having Bolted earths in the inner wings youll also find that the suspension should NOT cause you a problem Like the Series 2 cars doo.. and should always work.

The passenger window NEEDS to have the switch on the DRIVERS door working as well as the passenger switch... so try making sure BOTH switch's are working switch's

Ive a 2.1 sed which I want to get done up and back on the road... missing it at the moment really.

thanks matey, she's lovely just took her to brean down for a run 110mph no sweat!!

best combo s1.5 you get the s1 look with some of s2 reliability! having said that when i drive from cold it seems to slip the clutch when i boot it? but after a few miles you can boot it with no problem? my biting point is near the floor is this normal for a xm?

cheers biggrin.gif

they say don't drive your heroes, but on this occasional i disagree wink.gif

I saw you post RE: Boost Sensor..

Fitted to S1 cars only it is fited near the back of the battery box, with a rubber pipe going to the corner of the inlet manifold.. it also has an electrical plug on it so it actually coverts the signal to electrical.

Check the pipe condition or if its even connected... Ive never heard of these boost sensors fail.. I MAY have a spare one but Im not 100% sure..

Also as for your Poor running for the first few miles when cold: This wont be heater plugs, let me guess, you have a Bosch mechanical Pump Fitted??? Its useually these that do this. It will be a Pump problem. You have a choice. You can either advance the pump timing by rotating the Pump TOWARDS the engine, or you can remove it and get it serviced by a Pump specialist...

Ive had this a couple times, Once on a BX, (Bosch Pump) Once on an XM 2.1 SD, also Bosch, and also on Xantias also Bosch, all slightly or fully improoved by advancing the pump..

RE: boost sensor, when i turn the ignition on the needle on the gauge risses to the start of the solid white lines and just stay's there, the pipe was split but cut a bit off and put it back on. i did notice that it was quite mucky?!

the poor running is similar to driving an old car without coke if that makes sense,
yes, i do have a bosch 531 pump! i believe it's an air leak somewhere i was going to bypass the diesel heater and see if this sorts it, although i did detect a very slight misfire between 3000rpm and 4000rpm when booting it. the last few days it's been lovely from cold!

i really hope it isn't the pump as it can get expensive?

thanks again for your help it really is being appreciated, i've been blown away by the help i've been getting! biggrin.gif

most s1 xm's are fast disappearing too i think this is due to the s2 being better built and having a longer production run maybe, shame as the s1 just has that look especially with those alloys!

Actually despite the longer run I seem to remember the S1 accounts for somthing like 2/3 or 3/4 of all XM production! However I am in the process of putting the best S1 bits in my S2.. OK just the interior including the dash

i suppose the s2 was falling out of favour by the time it came out cool.gif. nice one so you'll have the best bit's of the s2 with the s1 look wink.gif

i'm acquiring some bit's for mine i.e single spoke steering wheel, rear door blanks to de-lock my front doors etc from a very patient remy at medway citroen biggrin.gif i'm really looking forward to getting these bits, just need those damn alloys!!!

i've also found a another ir blipper, can this be paired to my xm? i read in another post this can be done? can anyone verify this?

simon.

It is always worth trying Mk1 IR plipppers.
It is only the early ones that are hard coded pairs.
The later ones were recodable.
Paul have you found that set I put in the scrap car for you to test for DH?

Hi john,

Yes Its all there, Ive just not got round to it, with preparing for wetherby, now gone, trying to solve a Non Locking S1 24v, which I think is the drivers door lock, to needing to remove the SED Mk.1 passenger door lock as its jammed on undone so the door wont stay closed, those have pre occupied me so far...

Its not untill now I noticed that Im desperately short or even non exsistant of S1 door locks with no deadlocks

Cheers
Paul
