How many spheres on a S2 estate?

Can't seem to find a definite answer by searching the forum.

When I got my S2 2.5TD (registered 95 but I think its a 94 going by the dates on all the parts under the dash) it was very bouncy so I took it to Pleiades citroen in Sawtry. Martin replaced 4 spheres in the front but seemed happy with the performance of the rear suspension. However I felt it was still too soft at the rear, it would sink a bit too much going over bumps and sink quite badly at the rear when accelerating and raising at the rear when braking.

I took it back to Martin & he replaced 3 spheres at the back including the accumulator and its much much better now the sinking over bumps has gone but there is still a slight sink & raise when accelerating and braking, is this normal? I would have thought the hydractive suspension would keep the car more or less level. Maybe I'm being pernicky.

Anyway this brings me back to my original question, I'm sure I read somewhere that there are either 8 or 9 spheres on the S2 XM but if Martin has replaced 4 on the front & 3 on the rear where are the other 2 and what are they for? And would replacing them make any difference to this issue.

Also how can I test whether the normal and sport modes are working, I don't think theres much difference when I toggle between the modes but I could be wrong & would like to be able to test it for sure. By the way I have already fitted a kit bought from Roy Mackay.

If the car is a sinker it has seven spheres, if it's not it has eight.

The back will lower under power but shouldn't really rise under braking, due to the anti-dive.
Old worn spheres should have held it firmer, not looser, unless they were either the wrong ones or comfort spheres.

All my estates have had three at the back, three at the front + the accumulator, never had one with anti sink but they were all 2.1s I believe the 2.5s are anti sink.

Hi, My 2.1 has 8 spheres and under braking it sits down slightly at the rear if you keep your foot on the brake say stopping at traffic lights the car will stay down and when you release the brakes it will go up quickly back to normal ride hight the thing to watch out for is if you reverse into a drive way the rear will go down so when you go forwards again if the drive is higher than the roadway the rear of the car will hit the floor the trick is to release the brakes without moving forwards and the back will go back up to normal height then move off.
The sport/normal switches job is to remap the time it takes to go into firm mode, there are posts on this forum explaining how the system works have a hunt around.
