Its time to part with my much loved xm estate.
Its a dark blue 1996 2L 16v manual. It started life as an SX, but I've fitted electrically adjustable black leather seats, and relaced the steel wheels with five wider Volvo Uranus alloys with decent 205 55 16 rubber. I've also fitted the bolt-in option7 seven seater conversion kit and set of roofbars. The seats are very nice as I bought two black leather interiors and selected the best bits for fitting. The car has been in the family since it was 4 or 5 years old, and I have become quite attached to it over the years as a frugal long diistance load lugging family cruiser. I'm into classic cars and have four cars, keeping the xm as an interesting and useful modern. I am mechanically fastideous and have fitted numerous new parts in recent years to keep the xm in good mechanical order, but the bodywork has collected numerous dints and scratches. Mechanically its very good. In the past 25K miles it has had: new clutch new clutch cable a replacement rebuilt cylinder head and new timing belt (previous one snapped well within its service interval) new catalyst new lambda sensor 8 new suspension spheres & pretty much all the high pressure pipes replaced (I think all of them). new plugs new exhaust new battery new starter motor* new doseur valve new thermostat new filters & oil twice new alarm ecu (£££) so all the deadlocks and plippers now work new front discs new brake pads all round e-croftings firmness regulator ecu diode modification *the starter motor was a cheap recon one, and it failed under warrantly at 11 months. They sent me a new one and I fitted it, but very occasionally the solenoid sticks on this new one, and I was outside 12 months of the original purchase before I noticed it (starter 1 month old). It almoast always spins first go, but very occasionally its the 2nd or third turn of the key. More use may improve it? being a 96 it has the keypad immobiliser, seatbelt pretensioers, twin airbags, and electric sunroof. It has 11+ months MOT and about six months tax. It has the original citroen towbar with twin electrics. 142K miles. As all xm'ers will know its a hugely comfortable and capable estate car that does 35mpg. I'm just using it less and less and I don't need it anymore. £600, its in Surrey cr8 mail me for a pic. This post has been edited by dunc le grande xm pilote on March 27, 2011 09:47 pm |
