Hi all, What makes us like the XM - rareity? - you can drive all day and not see another! - Simplicity? - not really an option is it? Comfort? Now you're getting close! Quirkiness? - plenty of that! Reliability? - Come on!
I'm on my second one, a '94 2.1td auto vsx estate, and I sometimes wonder what is the attraction, that is until I settle into that large seat and fire up the engine and feel that unique rising sensation and the loosening of the steering wheel - it's like pulling on an old coat - snug and safe and comfortable!
I'm 66 and now retired and have a wife with MS and the ease with which you can raise the car, at high kerbs for example is really helpful for someone with movement difficulties and, quite honestly, I shall keep the old girl for as long as possible (the car that is, not the wife!) biggrin.gif
My car was thoroughly serviced and refurbed by Wolsey House Motors of Wortham near Diss, in Norfolk and was a low mileage model so, hopefully, will give me some good years of service - have owned it for two years now with no real problems - except the heater blower, of which more later. For anyone else in East Anglia these lads specialise in XM and any Citroen, old and new and Danny the owner will always give a fair appraisal of work necessary. That's enough for now, hope I can give some help along the way.

Hi izzywiz

Welcome to the club. I think XM's are just the best car in the world - for what I want. The 2.1 manual estate has probably more room in it than any other estate, the ride and comfort is second to none and 50+ mpg can be achieved - what else can you ask?

I'm coming up 72 and have been running XM's for 15 years now, previously had CX's, I can still at present do all my own maintenance and repairs which is another reason to run these cars - don't know about the auto though biggrin.gif

Continue to enjoy.

Peter
