Hi Zaphod,i think most of us have had bother with abs from time to time.If intermittant the first thing is to gain access to the sensor connectors in the front wheel arch and rear subframe.Seperate the plugs, clean the contacts and check the sensor resistance.Your rp could be either bendix (green plugs) or teves (blue plugs). The teves should be approx 1Kohm,i think the bendix should be approx 2Kohms.If these checks are ok then pack the connectors with vaseline and reconnect. If the fault remains then note whether the light extinguishes when driven. You don't say whether the light comes on intermittantly while driving.
Check carefully the reluctor ring on the driveshaft. On mine -teves- i found the l/h side split, cracked through, initially giving intermittant abs light and intermittant sensor fail on the Lexia, then a permanent fault,i presume once the ring finally split.i've ordered 2 new ones and will fit them soon.
After this you'll need to look at the valve block and ecu, which may be integral dependant on the system fitted.

Hi Zaphod,i've just checked the bendix resistances. If VDO sensors are fitted then 1K to 1.4K,SIEMENS sensors 2.2K to 3.2K.
