Evening all from Tim Young. I was running a breakdown truck, as a favour for a friend who'd got staff probs shorterm (holiday). I basically did the recoveries as I'm not a soopa doopa mechanic but can do abit. A phone call at Christmas '92 revealed that an XM Auto was at side of road and very poorly. If I could move it I could have it..tax etc running out.....so I did. The chap had ignored all warning lights and then drove it some more untill it wouldn't move. Dead at last.
When I had time over the next year I put the head right and all the hoses and rad' then overhauled the autobox. Ready for a drive now? No......it wouldn't punch it's way out of a paper bag. When I did get to work on it after much time wasted elsewhere, I found the timing out (ignition) and fast idle screw wound in out of sight and one of the other adjusters set too far and consequently the car didn't perform very well although I could see the EFI was trying it's best. I'm nearly there now, the car nearly runs as it should but I need someone with the magic touch to help me finally set it up. Great exhaust fitted last week for less than £90 inc labour for my friend. £40 for front section and middle box plus the bargain back box for £20. The jokes on me now, it's blowing at the manifold. I still like the series 1 the best, especially the trademark singlespoke steering wheel. It's colour is rare, apparently only 50 of 'em sent over here. It's like an icy mint green. I'd put a picture on but don't know how. CAN ANYONE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO IMPROVE THE LIGHTS PLEASE? Pictures now here. Hi Tim, good to hear from you; that colour is great and I have seen one before but didn't
realise it was that rare! I'd love to see pictures so have copied in instructions for posting
pictures in a thread for this forum. Look forward to hearing more.

This starts from the point where it is assumed you have a series of pictures already on
the PC and they're preferably (usually) in a jpeg format!

Remember too you'll need to create a user name with a password to access their system
and post images.

The images/video upload:





2: To get a specific picture you click on the upload option which will pop up a search
dialogue to choose what you want to post:





Which then uploads onto photobucket and is catalogued onto your user account where
it is viewed in two ways:

A - small thumbnail with annoying dropdown options box which plays hard to get:

the code required for a forum picture insert is the highlighted blue WHOLE string such as:

B - a larger image filling the screen better which is possible by clicking on the
previously shown above thumbnail:

There are other photo hosting websites although the only other one I've used before is
http://imageshack.us/ although I prefer photobucket.

Hi Tim and welcome,

Lots of people have converted their dipped beams to Xenon discharge bulbs to improve the poor light output from the standard XM set up.

Suggest that you search the forum for 'HID' (High Intensity Discharge) and/or 'Xenon' which should turn up plenty of info.

My HID bulb conversion was an ebay Chinese set which I have been happy with apart from radio interference on weak FM stations.

Yes get HID for the dips at least £35 including postage on ebay. The difference is superb.

Howdo and thanks for your replies which have been useful. I did spot them within a couple of days of them being posted but haven't been around much to respond. I don't want to give the impression that I ask for help then do nowt about it. The lighting situation first: I had already bought and fitted the 100w zenon bulbs for a start but was advised that these just burn the reflectors/silvering, so I bought the 55w set (with 50% more useable light) which I've not got around to installing yet. The second point of uploading pic's to the sight: Andrew, thanks very much for the comprehensive guide, it looks idiot proof.......you've not met this one yet. No, really, I just haven't taken any photo's more recently than the set that I posted on the CCC site (photo gallery). However, I will attempt to upload a few of these later on today. Finally, Assich, what a great name.
With regard to the car's colour; it was a Citroen specialist that told me of it's rarity so I am only repeating hearsay although I will research it to satisfy my curiosity. I think I'll clear off for now. Many thanks.
