Hi all,

The Lexia software uses the Mozilla browser as its GUI. Mozilla abandoned the browser a few years ago in favour of Firefox and others. However, it also uses Java for some of the interactive parts of the display. Every time the laptop is connected to teh internet it searches for a Java update and if one is availaable it prompts you to install it. More often than not I accept the invitation and update Java.

However, there's a problem with that. With Java 6version 21 an error now appears saying that the Java version is now incompatible with the old Mozilla and that you should install Firefox. I have no idea how you could get Lexia to use Firefox instead of Mozilla as its GUI without diassembling the Lexia code and redirecting it. Does anyone here know?

As a stop gap measure I have downloaded an older version of Java (version 14 as it happens) and installed it, first having uninstalled version 21. Lexia is back working again. However, that is not a clever fix and a longer term fix is required. I'm sure there will be hundreds if not thousands of people in the same boat and someone somewhere will be working on this problem. If I hear anything I'll report back here. I would ask anyone else to do the same if they come across a fix.

Cheers

This is strange. What version of lexia are you using? Mine is CD45 and has no issues with java. The only problem i encounter is that some of the fault codes has no description (only "Part not referenced in aftersales..." message or similar).
You may try to explicitly set to use old java for lexia (from java applet in control panel).

p.s. offtopic - is it possible to download from you XM manual and pay you via paypal? I've tried to send you PM few weeks ago, but they didn't work.

Noz,

Are you make references to Lexia and updates, or Lexia useing Firefox for actual operating??

Ive no problems with mine what so ever, Im useing Firefox Ver 5, however, Im not brave enough to connect to update Lexia, as I read somewere people had updated Lexia software only to run into problems I cant recall now...

While it works I leave it un-updated...

Paul

Hi Paul,

If you look closely you will see after you have entered the VIN and RPO numbers and asked Lexia to start the diagnostics function that Lexia Launches the mozilla office. If you start Task Manager (assuming this is windows) You will now see both Lexia and Mozilla running.

Hi Sharo,
I have the latest LExia, CD45 as I recall. I updated it just a couple of weeks ago.

I'm struggling to understand why its only me that has this problem. If Mozilla can't handle the most recent Java update then everyone should have the same symptoms. Computers......I hate them.

Cheers
