Wotcha! A few months ago I bought an '91 2.1 TD SED. Have been trying to put right the various things that are wrong. Have got to the point where the heating really does need fixing as it's going to be very cold in my car very soon. I cannot alter the temperature coming out of the vents regardless what setting everything is on. I've replaced the console to no avail. I've flushed the matrix through and it was pretty sediment free. Both pipes going in and out of matrix are hot which suggests to me everything is dandy there. I guess that there must be something that operates a flap to switch from hot and cold air. Trouble is I don't know what this is and where I find it. Any clues anyone?

I think you will probably find the the problem is the flap motor which you can access from under the glove box, they stick in one position and dont respond to the signal from the control panel. You will probably have to replace it but one from a scrapper will be OK. If you cant get one, in the short term you can take the motor off and move the flap by hand.

Cheers Peter. A battle with the vent ducting but got to the unit. Took it out, cleaned, applied voltage and seemed to be working. Put it all back together and still seemed to be working! Nice and toasty in the car now. Thanks for the advice.
