I seem to have acquired a new Citroen XM so I now have for sale a 1997 R-plate XM VSX 2.1TD - it is in green metallic, has not been on the road since August 2005 but has been garaged in a warm and dry garage all that time. It has 186,000 miles on the clock and starts on the button.
It will need a new battery and back is a tad bouncy but the front suspension appears OK - almost full service history with lots (and I mean lots) of receipts. It has tidy cloth seats, is very clean - there is a tiny dent on the bonnet on the passenger side. Obviously, having been sat since 2005, it would benefit from a good service and a belt change - I know I would. purchased by previous owner in 99, at 56k and he's had it till now. New exhaust at 165000, new disks at 169k and cambelt at 149k (in July 02) first reg 27 11 97 to Citroen UK 6505miles 15 1 98 service MPC Hartlepool 13252 16 3 98 service MPC Hartlepool 18259 11 5 98 service MPC Hartlepool 23761 22 6 98 service Alistair Fleming Ayr 30624 14 8 98 service Fleming Ayr 37030 18 11 98 service Abercromby Stirling 43667 18 02 99 service Autoworld CHesterfield 50345 29 4 99 service Citroen London West Brentford purchased 04 09 99 with 56230 miles in exchange for a Xsara estate and a Daewoo Espero serviced 2 11 99 60761 miles serviced 21 12 99 66461 28 02 00 72865 18 04 00 78325 serviced plus new radiator and battery 22 04 00 tyres or exhaust 14 07 00 85199 service 29 09 00 93076 service 05 12 00 98441 service plus thermostat and nsf window motor 06 12 00 98592 pads and discs (good service, eh!) 05 03 01 107115 service plus MoT 26 01 01 103853 service 16 03 01 108335 service 16 07 01 115666 service 11 09 01 120508 service, pads (front and back), part exhaust 26 10 01 OSF window motor replaced 07 11 01 126569 serviced 10 01 02 132624 serviced 21 02 02 aux belt plus tensioner 07 03 02 MoT at 136896 18 03 02 138223 service 07 06 02 144922 service 21 06 02 146476 front pads 12 07 02 149008 cambelt - cambelt was 170.38 fitted 17 09 02 154503 service 12 03 03 158028 MoT 13 05 03 161851 service 16 05 03/16 08 03 new exhaust system 07 07 03 169115 service plus discs 06 05 04 abs sensor 05 05 04 179018 MoT plus service 10 02 05 new alternator plus belt Aug 05 off road there is a quote for partial respray in 2001 for renew and repaint rear bumper, repair and paint osr wing Put it in for an MoT - it failed, which came as no surprise! The following are the fail items: 1. Rear suspension (both sides) needs replaced! I knew that one, and it's a painless expense! (£45 for two spheres - thirty mins to fit) 2. Exhaust emits an excessive level of smoke for a turbo charged car - I was told to give it an Italian service for that one! 3. service brake efficiency below requirements - basically there is almost no braking (40%) on the rear and when the brakes do start working, the rear suspension starts going down - perhaps the new spheres would balance that one out - although a few decent emergency stops may also work! I suspect it may need an LHM flush. advisories 1. both front tyres worn close to legal limit 2. both front indicators slightly discoloured 3. oil leak from engine - I'll need to investigate that one. 4. slight dampness on suspension pump That's it! I doubt any of it is major - and all fixable - I will confess that I have stolen the rubber mats and replaced them with cloth from my car, have swapped over my parcel shelf with the one in my car, removed the cargo net from the boot, swapped the aerial for the long one on my car and also will be stealing the rear mudflaps from it. Having given it a wash and a good look round, the front near side wing is slightly pushed in, it has a few stone chips commensurate with a life spent going between Edinburgh/Glasgow and middle England every six to ten days for six years. The near side display has a couple of lines out, the rhs is a little faded but still readable. The keypad cover for the immobiliser code is broken and the aforementioned sunroof works. The plip key has dead batteries so I am unsure if it will need recoded. A few more pics are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/46466362@N07/...57624538127382/ It drives nicely, the steering is tight and if I did not know better I would say it was a 100k car rather than a 180k car. It has a nice bit of go and rear suspension apart, I can hear the sensors working on the suspension centre spheres but it is very bouncy at the rear - fronts feel fine just now but the accumulator sphere does need a change! Let me know if you want to see anything else ... This post has been edited by messerschmitt owner on August 31, 2010 07:13 pm -------------------- 1995 SX 2.1TD Manual
