Looking to be able to connect an MP3 player into my original Phillips head unit-not really bothered about losing the cd changer facility. Wondered if anyone on here had any experience in locating something to do the job? I've had no luck searching on the web....

Cheers,
Alan.

Hi Alan,

I bought one of those MP3 player/FM transmitters that plug into the lighter socket. It's great. You just tune a spare radio station to the broadcast frquency of the MP3 Player and your off. No wiring mods needed. It was £1.87 on ebay with £1.50 postage. It even came with a remote control !

Cheers

Hi Noz, I've got one of those and it works reasonably but when travelling across country other stations come into range and needs constant retuning-in fact I've got two of 'em! Would prefer a hardwired solution if possible-especially with a trip to France in the offing!

Alan.

Hi Alan, Noz,
Another option is a cassette adapter which is plugged in to the headphone socket of the MP3 player.
If you want to incorporate a DAB radio the Pure Highway DAB receiver also uses an FM transmitter to play through the car radio, has an AUX input for an MP3 player and can be simply removed and used as a portable DAB radio.
However your preferred hard wired solution also gives the best sound quality. The CD changer output feed to the dashboard unit could be used to connect the MP3 player via a cable from the headphone socket. Worth checking first to see if there is an AUX socket/ connection on the changer or dash unit, I haven't looked.

Thanks Robert, I also have a cassette adaptor and it doesn't give good results. The Dab radio set up would give similar results to Noz's suggestion. I have looked on the web for an adaptor but-as usual-can't seem to find one.....As regards an aux socket on the head unit/changer-I don't think there is one (unlike S1 Xantias) as there is no 'aux' option on the controls....

Alan.
