Has anybody a PLIP receiver for a Mk 2. The RF type that fits under the glove box?

The death of my beast means that I will probably have one spare soon.

As soon as I know what I'm doing with it I'll let you know.

i would be interested to know what you find in your car. I notice your ORGA is 6427 which is slightly older than my mark 2 - 6540. When i was i trying to fix my remote locking without success i discovered the early mark 2s had the older style which is infra-red and the receiver is in the roof panel by the lights (or not in my case!).

If your parts end up spare I would be interested in the receiver and key buttons myself.

here is a picture of my roof panel shoing the connector which is i assume for the infra-red remote sensor together with the space where i guess it should be!

can anybody confirm this is the case? My old BX certainly had the sensor for infra red in the same place.

Hi Gav

I think you may have found a red herring.
They were still fitting wiring looms with connectors for both types of remote ( Roof IR and below glove box RF) to MK 2's in late 1995 but my spec sheets suggest that all UK Mk 2 XM's were fitted with RF equipment so there will not be anything on the other end of the IR connector other than a sticky foam covered plug. If you do fit an IR set I think you will loose deadlocking so make sure that you do not work inside the car with all the doors shut just in case it is set to deadlock as all inside catches are then disabled.
If you are looking for spares then as far as I know you cannot mix or reprogramme RF senders or receivers. You need to obtain a working fob sender and receiver as a pair minimum. If you find a set with 2 good fobs you will be doing well. A new set from Citroen is around £300 now and you can wait a year for supply. It is also uneconomic to order up a replacement fob at just over £100 with dealer programming.
I have had some success with making a new RF set from Germany work in an XM. This was won on ebay at cost of around £30 and he was still selling them last time I looked. Instructions were french so I had to use a lot of guess work but seemed to get there in the end. I made a lead so that the new receiver plugged into the same socket as the old rather than cutting the car wiring. If there is any interest I will put a few notes into a help file.

Regards

XMexc
