Not long after I replaced my XM with a C5, I hummed and hawed about what to do with the it. It didnt help that the forum went down. sad.gif

So I eventually decided to scrap the car. I saved as much as was reasonable.

I have a new, I believe genuine Citroen clutch cable. It cost me well over £100. £50 anyone. I'd imagine spares are getting ard to come by now.

I also fitted a reconditioned hydraulic pump shortly before scrapping the car. Again it cost well over £100, - £50 anyone?

I've got an alternator, side lights, headlight units, fog/indicator units, rear estate light units.

There are 4 five spoke alloy wheels which are in good condition. They had been beadblasted and painted.

I've also go six series one SE1 multispoke alloys wit their plastic hubcaps. These must be becoming rarer now.

I'm in Fife. Contact me at mcmoonter at yahoo dot co dot uk

Thanks Peter.

PS the C5 doesnt have half the character, handling or performance of the XM. mad.gif

.
hi Peter,

shame you had to scrap it.
It was a really nice looking car.....and in white......my favourite XM colour smile.gif.

It wasn't a manual 2.1 by any chance?

Paul

Paul,

It was a manual, and it went really well. I think I had it for the best part of 50 000 miles. It had well over 160k on the clock. I agree white XMs look great. I saw a similar car fitted with SEi alloys in the south of France. The paint was baked matt white, it looked stealth special. I found a set of those alloys but never got around to fitting them.

It seems the steady stream of XMs that appeared on ebay seems to be drying up.

It took ages to find a clutch cable and I needed a car for work quickly so went for the C5. I'm glad I took the plunge with the XM. I loved its ride and capacity. Even though mine was only a 2.1td on a windy back road it could keep up with most anything, much to the chagrin of a BMW owner on the old A9 between Kingussie and Aviemore in the rain one night!

I have added some extra pictures of the pump, alternator, clutch cable and wheels. Someone is interested in the Starfish alloys. The second set need a bit of a refurb, but they are unkerbed. £10 each plus postage.
