Just recently whenever I re-start the engine after leaving the car the back end drops down to the stops and stays there. If I raise it up to the next height itraises fine and then when I put it back to normal height it returns to where it should be. Front end is behaving as it should. I have replaced the height corrector but no difference. I did not have any pressure in the anti sink when I undid the pipes which seemed strange. Any ideas?

I'd like to help you think about this, but first this:

1) Did you replace the height corrector with a known functioning one?
2) Which pipes exactly did you disconnect?
3) And under what conditions?

Hi assich

Sounds very much like sticking/partialy siezed linkages on the height corrector mechanism between the height corrector itself and the anti roll bar to me.
Remove, clean and grease and normal service should resume.

Hi assich, can you clarify the sequence?
1/car remains at normal ride height after you shutdown and close the doors.
2/car remains at normal ride height after re-entering the car.
3/car only sinks AFTER engine is re- started.
4/car returns to normal ride height WITHOUT moving manual selector lever, even if it takes several minutes.
OR,
5/ONLY after moving manual height selector.
Here's one theory.
Loss of rear system pressure is as you know component leak back, most obviously the HC,which you've already changed. The anti sink valve removes the height corrector from the hydraulic circuit when switched. This effectively locks the fluid in the suspension units and HA valve, both sides of the HA valve are also then at the same pressure. If the HA valve seal is good the ride height is retained. When the engine is re-started HP system fluid then closes the anti-sink valve allowing the height corrector back in circuit, but more importantly,if the HA valve leaks or sticks open will allow the pressure to leak off back to the reservoir causing the suspension pressure to drop.
You've probably seen this document before, but may have relevance.

Hi,

I had the exact same problem. To solve it two things had to be done:

1) The anti sink sphere; if you change it/fill it, the car will not drop to the bottom just right after start anymore. But it will drop faster with the engine off, maybe down to the bottom after two-three weeks or so (with an empty sphere mine stayed forever high with the engine off!). Don't know why it behaves like this.

2) It is not the height corrector that need to be replaced, but the bearing of the linkage mounted to the sub frame. If you have _any_ slack here, the height corrector will simply not work.
