Hi gallicharm,if i understand you correctly items 9,10&11 in the attachment are the damper assembly, but specifically which part you can determine yourself.Obviously this is the Cit parts list,i would think you'd have difficilty sourcing elswhere other than a breakers.

thats not a damper assembly, its a preload assembly...

Its purpse it to keep the rack tight against the pinion.

I think he's refering to 2, the rubber bit in the UJ, and you can get one from a scrap xantia. its a one piece unit no point just taking the rubber out.

First of all thank you guys for replying. The diagram is very helpful.Im almost very sure im looking for part no.8.Ive got to double check with mech.

Part no.8 is a rubber part on the steering damper and the part that broke is the little rubber tube which sticks out(i dont know how else to describe this). The return hose is fitted to that.now i cant fit the return hose anywhere. So LHM leaks constantly.
Another problem is that i live in Malaysia where XM parts are almost impossible to source.

Thank you again.Will keep u guys posted.Thanks

Hi gallicharm,it's the leak back union, only £6.85 from UK cit dealers, but that won't help you, and i'm sure it will be marked up if on special order to Malaysia.P/N is 95640212.

Hi,i doubt any UK dealer would be forthcoming in supplying overseas. This gives the Malaysian dealerships.http://www.citroen.com.my/service_centres.asp.I replaced one of these 9 years ago on my daughters 1991 2.0i.

Oh robert,Citroen Malaysia is entirely useless as they only service models from Xsara c5 onwards. They dont bring in Xantia or XM parts. We get our parts from Singapore

A friend of mine has a C5 and his electrovalve gave way so he took his c5 to the Citroen service centre and they had no idea what the electrovalve was..they sent him back saying "we cant do your car".The guys in the garage has never seen a BX XM or CX.

Singapore suppliers have ran out of stock and some are saying that they dont produce that rubber part for sale anymore.apparently i have to buy the steering damper unit itself...

wouldn mind paying abit more but just wanna get my xm leakless sad.gif

Thank you

OK Gallicharm,i've had a dig in my garage and found said item still in original unopened wrapper,if a little grimey.Package part number is still legible,95240212 as per parts list.UK postage charges to Malaysia are approx £2 (50g weight) so let me have an address and i'll put it in a jiffy bag.I've no idea on any customs duty, you'd have to sort that yourself on receipt.
