speedometer, any advice

hello to everyone i am new here but i used to talk in this forum 2 years ago.

i have xm v6 es9 engine 1999 automatic.

my speedometer starts to drop down when i start to drive,and up again.

what could be the problem?

Hi Yaron,my 2000 year 2.1 did this progressively worse over a few months.I had resolved to check the edge connector on the binnacle board for cracking as advised by PeterN on the .co.uk forum.However,before i did, It then started to drop out of cruise but the speedo was still working.I ran a hydractive diagnostic on the LEXIA and it showed up multiple speed sensor faults.Thus i obtained and fitted a new speed sensor and that has effected the cure.No problem since.

i forgot to say that a few month ago the cruise stop working at all.

ok i will fit a new sensor ,but were is the sensor located?

Hi Yaron,it's on the differential housing,inboard,easily accessible when on axle stands,a single 10mm bolt retains the unit and heatshield.Remove this and the electrical connector and pull it upwards and out.Oil the new unit "o" rings with atf and refit.Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes.I obtained mine from ebay,£25 Gbp.
