I spent 15 mins or so sitting in the passenger seat of the Prestige with engine off just after 6 am this morning. I won't explain why unless you really need to know-)
Anyway, I have been involved in discussions in the past here about city noise interfering with hearing the electrovalve buzz. I was quite pleased to discover I could quite clearly and reproducibly hear the electovalve buzzing softly for 30 secs after closing the door with a louder clunk when it cut out. It was really quiet for a while, no wind or traffic, until someone drove past, even when they were 100s of yards away it still masked the buzzing, then someone else started up in another street, which also made the buzzing very difficult to hear, at which point I went to bed! I suspect in the week it might NEVER be quiet enough to be sure the buzzing was the electrovalve. I didn't try the driver seat, didn't want to start it up to allow the driver door to open just for that, maybe the buzz is louder in the passenger seat anyway? The whole episode also reminded me its been TOO long since I've been to the countryside, Mouseflakes, hows your blue one? Maybe it might be quiet enough if you get up a bit early on a non-windy non-rainy sunday morning to hear that valve humming? If you've still got it, that is. So' I'm quite pleased really, although it does ride differently in sport and soft modes anyway, so I knew the valve was alright already really, and the lack of hydractive light on the instrument panel MUST be nothing more than a blown bulb. I'll be posting about current "alternator light on" woes in the Prestige when I get some more time. Lets hope the forum get fixed soon, its not easy to browse in the current disfunctional state, although I am pleased to have discovered recently that there is still some functionality. regards -------------------- XM 2.0i Prestiege (Red) 1992 K reg RP 5692 (deceased)
