Hello all,
while the engine is out and awaiting the new clutch I decided to put a new cam belt on it. I went through the long winded set up procedure in the Haynes joke book and just for good measure put a dab of loctite on the adjuster nut. I have set the tension so with at a push with one hand you can turn the belt 45 degrees at the top between the camshaft and diesel pump. I have a Haynes diesel manual covering many cars and looking through it,it says on some cars, tension the belt so that you are able to turn it 90 degrees, but I think this is over a longer run than that of the xm engine. Your opinions appreciated. Gary -------------------- White Xm 2.1 Auto Hatch rp 6436 loving it.
