Hi Phil,

There has been a fair bit of forum discussion on this topic in the past. The general opinion seems to be that unused new spheres lose pressure very slowly over time and genuine Citroen spheres lose the least pressure of all. The rate of pressure loss increases once the sphere is in use due to nitrogen gas diffusing through the moving flexible diaphragm. Having said that, a 11 year old sphere is getting on a bit and to be sure it is still serviceable a pressure test would be advisable.

As a matter of interest what make (eg Citroen, Amtex, etc) are your spheres and where did you buy them?
There is a seller on ebay currently offering (apparently) genuine XM spheres at £15 a pair (front or rear) + £10 p+p which is a bargain price providing that the pressures are OK.

I made myself a pressure tester along the lines of a design posted by Noz and find it very useful to have a confirmation of the actual sphere charge pressure.

Regards

Ken
