Peugeot 306 Central Locking Motors

Not for an Xm, so I have put it in the Anything goes area.

The boot lock on my wifes 306 is playing up. It would not unlock (key would not turn and central locking did noting). I pulled the trim of and found that I could not budge the rod the the central locking motor. I got the motor out and it was stuck solid - the rod would move the mechanism fine without the motor connected.

So I deduced that the motor was the problem. I plugged it back in just to see what happened and it started working fine. After that I could move it by hand. Put it all back together and it worked fine - for 2 days

So a couple of questions:

Has anyone any experience of central locking motors freezing up, and are there common easily fixed problems inside them?
Has anyone dismantled any - is it worth opening up to have a look?
Anyone happen to know if PSA use the same motors on the 306 and XM and happen to have a spare?

If not then it looks like I may be registering on the Peugeot equivalent of Citroen Service to find out part numbers and prices.

I had problems on the Silver XM estate I had, sometimes worked sometimes didn't. I the end I fitted a spare I had from a 405 estate. I think the plug had to fit in the other way round and I had to drill another hole in the mouting bracket but it was to all intents and purposes the same part.

Try the local scrapyard if you've got one nearby.
