It took awhile until the stars were all aligned. Of course, the car had to be washed and photographed on the same day in a suitable location (20 yards from our house) and with suitable light... and of course, the weather would have to cooperate.
But today was such a day.

So here she is, in all her glory:

Passenger side view - still the most characteristic angle for this car, I think.

I'm in love. wub.gif

Do you have any pictures taken from the sunny side.? I would like to see a silver Series 2 in sun to see how it looks as silver can look a bit flat looking.

Very nice, really suits the wheels, looks in great condition too cool.gif

Silver Xms are more of a grey silver, not a bright silver like some cars. Its a very nice colour, one of my favourites for the Xm, they suit the brighter colours in my opinion.

Oh, i much prefer the S2 spoiler, more subtle looking, never have liked the S1 boot spoiler all that much.

I like your clear side indicator repeaters, mine has orange, may have to get a set of those rolleyes.gif

Im expecting an updated signature picture now Peter tongue.gif

Chris.

Dieselman: that's what silver gray does for you. It's a bit like a chameleon: whatever shade of light shines or reflects on it, it'll assume. Put it next to a green car or a tree, and it'll appear grey-with=a-shade-of-green. Have the sun shine straight on it, and it'll appear as white, with a risk of overexposing the shot (which is why I took it from the other side).

The first and second shot also show this effect quite well ;-)

So there's silver gray for you: sometimes bland, but never boring.

I have to say I agree with Chris about the spoilerette - I always thought that the S1 spoiler was a bit OTT. I can't help but think it would probably look best without any spoiler whatsoever.

Chris, as far as I know, the clear indicator repeater lights were standard on this very late Series 2.

Hi Peter

Very nice, those alloys do look much better than the others you had, they are becoming a very popular rim of late biggrin.gif

Thanks Peter, ill have to get a pair of those.

They are Dean, if only they are easier to get hold of, i could do with another set now dry.gif

I notice there are some late Xm Exclusive wheels listed on ebay, not the best wheel design though.

I wonder why that "of late" would be - I've always found this the prettiest alloy for the XM.

Hi Peter

The "of late" is mainly due to the aparent popularity of the Ettoils lately, with Citroenmad and urself getting a set and a few other member interested in getting some.
I have to admit they are nice looking rims though, its a shame they dont do them as 17's though.

Until recently (C4, new C6 and the C6) Citroen always used to fit smaller wheels to their big cars, mainly to help the ride. The wheels were usually always 15" with big section/profile tyres to aid the ride comfort.

I have noticed an improvement in the ride going from 195/60 to 195/65 tyres on my wobbly webs, looks better with a bit of a bigger tyre too.

Talking about the most characteristic angle to photograph the XM and the best alloys for it, I couldn't resist and posted these pictures. Draw your own conclusions!!

There's three images gone AWOL! wink.gif

However, based on what I see, I'd say that for a dark-clad XM this works differently. On a light paint colour, the band of glass is much more a discerning feature, which IMHO is best seen from the side.

Re: the rims: These look VERY similar, if not identical, to a set of 10 spoke 16" alloys that I had on a 1997 Rover 600. The only thing missing seems to be the Rover logo! I'll have to find a photo of that car...
