So im watching the tv and listening to the radio today and this government has urged me to check my smoke alarm, watch out for motorbikes, not smoke, how to identify a stroke, buy a coded stereo to put in my car so it wont be so attractive to thieves huh.gif , drive slowly, fill out my tax return on time or i will be fined, tax my car or i will get it crushed, not to fraudulently claim benifits, tell them when my circumstances change for tax credits which they take off you then pay a team of peope to balls up giving them back and then to go to direct.gov for advise on all the governements services, and this is just the ones i can remember.

Just goes to show how damn stupid this country is getting, and how much of our money they waste telling us how to live our lives.......

Not that im a moaner biggrin.gif

A lot of this stuff is misleading too, like the ad which implies that if the little girls mamma gives up smoking she will be immortal and never die! I tried that on a non smoker friend who agreed with me, the NHS has solved the mortality problem and just been too shy to tell us about it. Not. I mean, let the market decide about smoking versus non smoking not the govt.

Also, apparently regarding tax return fines they can only fine you up to the amount you owe so if you owe nothing...

Then again, they probably changed the rules again now, I tell you, before new labour, it was pretty simple running my company, these days its hard to keep up with the changes in rules, tax rates etc.
Doesn't help that my income dropped by over 60 % of course in that time.

I see the same thing starting again pretty near the bottom in IT, I mean you;d think the managers could fix their own PC's, surely...!

Give it a few months and they'll be trying to give you cash to crush your beloved XM.

The main thing Orwell got wrong really, apart from being 25 years too late, was that the techncrats would ever really have managed to get into power, geeky types tend to be the wrong personality types to be power hungry and succeed at brown nosing and worm eating.

Really, we need new power science, proper new science of the type not seen since the early 70's, and all they can invest in fusion is 16million a year, and try getting a non military job doing physics research, bloody impossible.

Of course, 600k/year pensions for guys who ruined their industry to the point of forced nationalised must take priority, I guess.

Have a nice week Xm'ing all.

Oh yes. He was the only one sane enough to recognise that, whenever he left his house, he actually went into the asylum. biggrin.gif
