Circumstances now beyond my control have left me feeling 'trapped' and suffocated with
multiple issues, many largely related to my burgeoning collection of Citroens and I now have
to put my addiction/hobby on ice or even call it all a day for the sake of my finances, health
and mental well being and IMMEDIATELY reduce the car count. I really don't want to say any
more than over the past week a series of unrelated events have shaken me badly to the quick
(rounded off with events today that I'm still trying to get my head around) and as much as I
would like to optimistically bounce back as I normally would I now need to make unwelcome
decisions.

First Xm to go is a grey metallic 1993 Xm 2.0i CT Turbo Si manual saloon. It's been off the
road a couple of years on SORN but the only issue I envisage it having for an MOT are the
spheres: they simply need checking and one end renewing; it almost seems too soft at one
end and/or too hard at the other which creates an odd se-saw imbalance but otherwise it's
driveable and presentable and most certainly NOT a spares donor.

As far as ABS, sunroof, glovebox, lekky windows and radio etc, I cannot recall their state
at this precise moment and have more pressing issues to worry about...

IIRC, the clutch/gearbox/exhaust and tyres are fine and it had an MOT when I purchased it
but didn't get issued for a new test; it's had the unwanted attentions of a drugged up off his
head moron who broke a LOT of glass and slammed the nearside front wing but it is otherwise
presentable and secure and safe to drive but will need a damned good vacuum of broken glass
chards in the rear boot/footwell. Being paranoid it MAY repeat may have a rather dead clutch
action which could be nothing or something but it pulls better than the near identical one I'm
currently using. It drove perfectly from Oxford to Swansea without any dramas.

I could be madder than I think but surely it's worth £150 - if only for the sweet engine.

I WANT it to go to an Xm enthusiast but the next step is an engine swap merchant on
ebay. Car is located in a place called Rhossili on the Gower peninsula but can be delivered
at cost within reasonable range though I cannot envisage the time being available to trek
to Scotland.

pm or email andmcit at tiscali co uk

I hope this is a blip and "normal service" will resume shortly with a particular note to
Mr Hallworth that I DO want to take on the Xantia and I'll watch with genuine interest
your situation Tim but this declutter takes precedent over everything else over the next
three weeks!!

Other SORN cars that are available for small money are:
Xantia 2.0i 16v VSX manual in blue on an R plate with leather - nice miles
Xantia 1.8 16v manual in red with 88k miles - L plate
Xantia 2.0 SX Auto in green also with 88k miles - M plate

watch this space for more as other cars are for the chop too.

Andrew

Im Sorry to hear you are having to clear out Andrew.
I do hope this can be just a temporary blip and that you can get back to what you love ASAP.

Regards

Cheers Dean.

I'm praying this doesn't descend into a personal farce/disaster and it is genuinely
referred to as a "distress sale". Suggestions/offers will obviously be listened to.

I will feel like I've personally sold out on all my past thinking/ambitions/enthusiasm
if the cars go to scrap and it feels bad enough watching them sell for peanuts.

Although probably no great consolation im sure they will get a good home if they are advertised here or on fcf.

Good luck Andrew

Sorry to hear you're having troubles Andrew. As Dean says, if its any consolation, hopefully any cars you list on here will be going to good homes.

I hope you can get sorted out and things go back on an even keel for you soon.

Sorry about the problems Andrew, just wish you well with getting them resolved. Parting with well loved Citroens is always difficult but concentrate on the fact that they have given you the varied enjoyment of ownership and you have already at some cost and time given them a life extension. Offering on may just get some of them rehomed but if you have to be more drastic then so be it, not something to beat yourself up about, just reflect on the fact that you did the best that was possible in the circumstances. No body has a right to ask for more than that.

John

Andrew,

I too am having an "interesting" week but not on your scale by the sounds of it. Hope you manage to sort through it all.

I thought it was green at first but that grey isn't too bad I guess.

Its possible I might need to take a cheap one on if the MOT is too expensive on my VSX (front bumper and wings are a mess, and mirrors too) or the Prestige gearbox linkages (went today!) prove too troublesome or time consuming to restore, however I wont know for a couple of weeks really.

At least the tyre that picked up a screw on Monday was repairable, lucky I noticed it really not easy to tell in an XM when driving on a deflating tyre.

Got any Prestiges? :-)

Sometimes things can be a bit TOO "interesting" Tim!

Can I just say a big thank you to everyone here who has sympathised with my rather
oblique mutterings and have replied here or sent pm's - they're all greatly appreciated.
I'm not about to lose my job and have my physical health - financial and mental health
may be open to debate though I believe I haven't lost the plot or my sense of humour
quite yet. Give it time! I'm sure that with time I'll regale you all with the full story...

No takers for my £150 2.0 Si Turbo - what's wrong? huh.gif I thought these were supposed
to be the best 2.0 of choice to own? Don't 'do' auto's - they don't work!!! tongue.gif The Severn
crossing ransom putting you off or the weird language and endless hills, sheep and rain?
I reckon if I asked for more money there'd be more interest as then it wouldn't be seen as
a basket case! So £280 anyone? That's what these sell for on ebay with issues.

Phil, I'm almost certain to have seats that will fit your requirements! Do you want manual
or electric ones - guess they're for the new SD? I'll pm back with piccies in due course.
You'd be right about the gas strut - new from Citroen it comes with the whole glovebox
assembly for IIRC around £50!!

DrTim, I have a FULL set of matching blue panels for your VSX. Tailgate and x2 bumpers
may still be available but I need to check they haven't been binned. Will have a good
rummage about but worth a trip to Swansea if you also fancy checking out a pair of SEi
s1's in Mauritius blue met, a pair of i spec one's in the same colour and a gold 2.0i - all
manuals. Sorry, no Prestiges! As far as your timing goes, it's tight!

Gear linkage rods are cheap enough and easy to fit mind!

All the best,
Andrew

Hi Andrew

I would love that turbo, but its all a question of time and space, and right now i have neither unsure.gif maybe you need a wider audience to get these cars shifted..........

I'm sure I could do you a buy two, pay for one later deal! laugh.gif blink.gif
OK, that's more likely a Xantia but I'm open to discussion.

Nice try!!

Rather than find myself trailering fully able and working cars to the tip (which really
rattled me a while back where Very Tall Brad found himself in similar circumstances)
I guess I'll have to sugar coat or bribe you Xm nutters here but that's stretching it!!!

A wider audience probably means Mr ebay's greed and hassles with total Muppets
who expect the moon on a stick delivered at seller's cost...

Oh great! ohmy.gif

Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear about your major clearout, fingers crossed as you say it's a "blip".

I'm in a bit of a similar boat where I need to get stuff shifted too, but it's not desperate yet, think I can keep the folks quiet.

Are you having to flog everything or just some?

I hope your able to hang onto the special ones such as your Series 1 24v.

David.

Andrew - I hope that your problems sort themselves out quickly. I am still looking for an XM but have unfortunately just been made redundant, so that will have to go on the back burner for now. sad.gif
