Hi all

some of you may know, im no computer wiz, its a miracle i can turn it on and i have been having huge problems of late on my 2 month old laptop running vista.
whenevr i tried opening posted files or uploading pictures to flickr ie would freeze and come up with the ie 'not responding' message, it has become a more and more frequent acurance untill today when it froze after whenever i tried to open anything, so after remembering what Andmcit had said i went firefox and the initial impression is very good, its much quicker and hasnt crashed all evening, the only thing is ive lost my spell checker on the tool bar, which i really do need unsure.gif but its worth it to be able to write a post and be able to post it, without it crashing when you hit the post new topic button biggrin.gif

Dean.

Go to Tools>Options>Advanced>General>Tick box "Check my spelling as I type"

Then go to content tab and under languages choose English UK as oppose to English? US

I haven't used IE for years.

Upgrade your laptop with as much RAM as you can afford. 1 gbyte is definitely too low for Vista.
Of course you may already have 4gbyte in which case maybe look at downgradingto XP.

Good choice switching to firefox, IE is appalling. Chrome is also an option.

Hi Dean

I didn't have any problems when I first had it, until I started getting updates. Every one I had seemed to slow it down, then some programms stopped working, towards the end it started moving files and hiding ones I moved, eventually it wouldn't transfer any information from the internet, although it was connected. Its been bliss since I put XP in.
