Hi Steve
That is exactly what im thinking, i would like to go down the custom stainless exhaust route but i dont want it to be too noisy, although its quieter than my N/A which has a larger diameter pipe. Also the turbo's cat uses a wire mesh as the base for the coating rather than the (in my opinion) less restrictive ceramic honeycomb used in the larger cat of the N/A, maybe the solution is to weld an ofset into the downpipe of a nice new 8v cat to overcome these restrictions in the turbo's exhaust system.................. ![]() and if anyone asks im not taking it apart http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3380/340787..._ac5fc0c066.jpg Here is where the return oil pipe from the turbo enters the block with a pushfit rubber seal ![]() Got this far, but was stopped by dinner, a lack of light and a massive circlip need some pliers This post has been edited by dean on April 02, 2009 10:04 pm -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678

Hi Dean,
To remove the big circlip on the 2.5 turbo I ground down a cheap set of snipe nosed pliers. The circlip is pretty hefty. A possibility exhaust wise would be to buy a sports catalyst and have that fabricated into a stainless system. On the C5 (HDi) I broke out the catalyst to see if that was restricting the engine at all. Sure enough it was but then what do you expect putting a very fine honeycomb in a diesel exhasut. The engine revs much freer now. Much more XUD like but with much better torque low down. Steve. -------------------- XM 2.1 SED - RP5876

Hi Steve
I havent touched it yet but thanks for the tip it does indeed seem to be a very chunky circlip, ive gota put a new rack in the prestige while im on holiday this week and we have just put an offer in on a house so i may have to shelve all my little projects for a good while if all goes well D -------------------- 92 xm 20i prestige auto (modified)R.P 5678
