You don't say exactly what has stopped working, but if you mean that you cant vary the temperature, its probably the motor that drives the drives the air control flap.

Craig

Exactly the same problem has happened to me - the whole system heating etc. has died! Can you remember which fuse it was, if not I'll be hunting under the dash checking them all in the morning?

Cheers

Neil

yep for me it was the fuse box next to the battery in the Xm hand book its says aircon f2 10amp fuse but it will be 30amp on the car hope that is some help.
p.s. this also seemed to be the cure for my alarm going off after locking

rolleyes.gif Finally got round to sorting my aircon display problem. After checking the correct fuse blink.gif I realised that the current blackened (but not blown) fuse was probably not making contact properly. A slight twist of the fuse blades and everything is now hunky-dory. tongue.gif

Hi

I recently had the sudden fan failure problem to solve on one of my 2.5's. It too turned out to be the F2 fuse in the engine compartment BUT the fuse link was intact. It had one leg burnt off and had also burnt out the contacts that the fuse plugged into. I had to change the whole fuse box for a servicable one. Sorry but your blackened fuse leg sounds as though it is going the same way. It may pay you to check that the fuse is making a good enough contact to carry the high current taken by the heater fan otherwise it may just arc itself to death as mine did.

Regards

XMexc

I have had the same problem with a 2.1, I think it is because of the position of the fuse box, it gets road spray on it which causes corrosion. I think there is also something around there which is causing intermittent failure of the ABS as it will sometime come back on when I move the box about.

there is a common theme here, and one which i experienced recently.

With age, connections become gradually more corroded. The greater the exposure the worse they get hence the near side engine bay fuse box.

On my 2.5 all problems with air con and blower stopping were cured by cleaning up all contacts in the system - especially the higher power ones. The main culprit was the in-line fuse located near the engine fuse box which was totalled corroded, but also in poor condition was the F2 fuse and the wiring connections on the blower itself.

a bit of emery cloth, a bit of petroleum jelly and all is well.
