I had this problem when i first got my series 2 V6.

If you stick your head in the drivers footwell and look up you will see a big white connector up there.

I was getting no sport message on the screen, no sport light on the dash and no hissing or clicking when the e-valves opened.

As soon as I plugged that in I heard the whole car start hissing and clicking as the valves fired in.

There's a sliding mechanism on the plug to lock it, slide that and it should be nice and tight.

David.

Right enough David, I'd forgotten all about your earlier suspension issues with that connector!

I'm not sure if it exists on S1, but it has to be worth spending 5 minutes taking a look Tim....

As this is a series 1 car you should be able to hear the electrovalve buzzing using the "radio interference test"!!
Tune away from any station on AM or medium wave as I like to call it an you should hear plenty of buzzing interference. Blip the accellerator and it should briefly disappear as the evectrovalve switches off.

I shall give that a go - but I don't think the after-market radio has MW. I'll need to check. Thanks!

Thanks David,

I did see your post when I was searching for solutions. I found a large white connection - it looked to be very secure - but I shall take it apart and remake it - I was a bit concerned I might not clip it back together properly though, after reading in the thread that the service centres get it wrong. smile.gif

There was a smaller connection (about five pins) that was dangling loose - I assumed that was for an option that isn't present on the Si, as I can't find anything to plug it into.

When I've finished crawling around under the car (possibly with a welding torch in hand - see how much space I can clear and how inspired / weather proof I feel tomorrow) then I'll get back on the search for a solution - perhaps starting with a bit of radio-listening. smile.gif
