Hi all, any clever persons out there figured out how to retrieve fault codes from the series 2 diagnostic socket in the cabin or am I doomed to be groping around in the dark forever ? S1 was such a doddle...

The circuit in this thread works for the ABS, Hydractive and Central Locking for certain (I did it the other day).

Not sure about engine - couldn't get anything out of my 2.5, and haven't seen any codes published for it anyway. I presume the other engines push codes out as per the lists.

It is a bit fiddly connecting onto the pins - I used some small crocodile clips, but you have to be upside down in the footwell to manage to get them onto the pin you want.

Cheers,
Rowan.

Common problem on here for some reason that Noz can't find. If you do a save as, it will probably save it with an .HTM extension (and will open as gibberish). Rename it to .PDF and it should open fine then.

Cheers,
Rowan.

I made up the electronics and tried it for Engine and Gearbox with no success so gave up. Instead I have been disconnecting units and checking voltages and resistances are as should be. Works well and by using items on this forum and the wiring diagrams I have had no problem tracking down faults. About to track down a missbehaving ABS sensor by this method.

The 2.5 and 24V engines are not listed in the codes for use with that circuit. Having tried to get anything out of the 2.5 and failed, I am starting to suspect that it does not use the slow flashing codes that this circuit can work with. Presumably it uses another protocol that would require a 'real' fault code reader.

I read in another thread today that the H5 suspension ecu seems to be different - perhaps that stopped using the slow codes as well.

You may or may not have any luck with the ABS on a 99 car - I would have thought it would work. An open circuit fault should be easy to find with a meter, but a tempermental problem would be harder to track down without reading the codes I would have thought.

Cheers,
Rowan.

Well if we are really luck perhaps Frank Verschuren, Noz or someone else will come up with a wiring diagram to connect a laptop up. You can download the software for free of the web. Don't fancy connecting all those pins up one by one though.

Maybe I am being thick but it wasn't clear from the pdf where to connect the circuit.
Is it definitely inside the car under the passenger dash in a S2 like in an S1?

I bought some bits from maplins yesterday to try it out, but got syalled here.

thanks

The diagnostic connector is on the drivers side in the bottom edge of the panel below the steering column.

Hi all,

I'm in the process of trying to persuade Citroen to release the comms protocols for the engine ecu and others at the moment. If they are prepared to release them we can manufacture our own Elit type device for little money and all have diagnostic computers. I'll let you know how I get on.

In the meantime would anyone (Rowan) like to try the flashing LED trick on terminal C3 of the 30 pin multiplug. According to the manual you should get 'coded bursts' from this terminal. Please let me know if you try it and how you get on.

Cheers

I will probably try next time I am under the bonnet, but that could be a month or two... Have to finish the patio, build a cover for the sand pit and re-woodstain the front door and shed before I will be allowed to 'play with the car' again rolleyes.gif Unless something breaks...

Cheers,
Rowan.

Hi everybody... Hi Noz...
That´s music to my ears...
I work with other car types and i use regularly EOBD readers like ELM327 and VAG Com, so i do Diagnostics for everybody and i can´t do it for mysel... Life is Sad, isn´t it? Unfortunatelly, except the expansive Lexia-3 there´s no other reader that we can use... If you have any news about your idea, please let me know.

Brgds.
